LAM TO COACH BROOKFIELD EAST GIRLS BASKETBALL
Brookfield East is proud to announce that Kelly Lam has been selected as the next Head Girls Basketball Coach. Lam graduated from Brookfield East in 2004 following a stellar career playing for Lindy Kemp. She is 2nd on the all-time leading scorer list and led her team to GMC Championships her junior and senior year. The team qualified for WIAA State Tournament in her final season at East. Additionally, she was a WIAA State qualifier in Tennis and Track and Field.
Following High School Lam accepted a scholarship to Oklahoma where she played for one year under Sherri Coale before transferring to Marquette University where she played her final years for Terri Mitchell. During her years as a collegiate athlete Lam was a regular coach at youth and high school camps throughout the area. Lam was recognized as an outstanding scholar athlete during each of her years as a player. (Academic Big XII in 2004-05 and Academic All Big East in 2005-08). She was a Varsity Assistant at West Allis Central during the 2009-10 season.
"I am thrilled to welcome Coach Lam to our staff and back to Brookfield East. Her competitiveness and experiences as a Division I player will be an inspiration to our athletes." said Athletic Director Corey Golla. "She knows what great looks like and has the drive to get there."
Lam graduated with an accounting degree and will be working towards a teaching certificate in the fall.
Over the Holiday Break 2009, the Girls Basketball Teams invited the Alumni for a very entertaining basketball game. After the exciting game, they enjoyed food and refeshments in the lobby.
The Varsity team helped with a food drive during the Thanksgiving Tournament 2009. They collected a truck load of food and related items, and delivered them to the Waukesha County Food Pantry.
The JV and Varsity girls helped out at a Holiday Clinic in December 2009. There was no charge for the clinic. All they asked for was a donation. They raised $115 and donated to the Women's Center.
Thank you for your volunteer efforts to help better our community.

On December 4th the Spartans played Mukwonago away. Mukwonago's fast up tempo style and very athletic team took, Brookfield East out of their game right away. It was a long night as the Spartans only scored 12 in the first half and 30 overall to Mukwonago's 58. No players scored in double digits for the Spartans. East had a tough defensive battle against Pius on Tuesday the the 8th. The Spartans were up 15-13 at halftime, and battled in the third quarter only down by 4 going into the 4th. However not shooting well and being only 6-16 from the free-throw line they allowed Pius to keep the lead and win 37-24. The spartans played well, but need to put a full 4 quarters together.
The Spartans are now 2-3 after winning the conference opener against Wauwatosa East 62-34 The Spartans controlled the game and many players contributed on Friday night. Marley Blood had 19 points while Laren Nashleanas added 15 points.

The Girl's JV Basketball team opened their season hosting Thomas More at the Kemp's Klassic Thanksgiving Basketball Tournament. With strong defense and a strong outing by guard Zoe Zanella, the JV advanced to the Championship game against Classic 8 powerhouse Catholic Memorial.
The JV squad jumped out to and early lead in the finals. Tough pressure and not being able to finish in the second half resulted in the JV squad wrapping up the weekend 1 - 1.
The Girl's Basketball program looks to improve against another formatable
opponent at Mukwonago on Friday, December 4th.

CAMP PHILOSOPHY
Our camp’s main focus is to develop the proper fundamentals of the game of basketball and improve your skills with and without the ball. All aspects of the game will be taught—from Spartan defense, court awareness, to our offensive strategies. Each camper will be assigned to a team and a coach. This coach will be with their team all week and help evaluate the players during the camp. On the last day, the camper will have an evaluation to take home. Our camp also allows the camper to compete in game competition. A tournament will be played through out the camp.
